Paul H. Ellenbogen, MD
Ultrasound and Uroradiology
Dr. Paul Ellenbogen joined Dallas Radiologists and the staff of Presbyterian Hospital Dallas in 1978. He has served on the Medical Board for over ten years and served for nine years as Vice Chair of the Department of Radiology and then later served as Chair of the Department of Radiology at the renamed Texas Health Resources Presbyterian Hospital Dallas for seven years. As Dallas Radiologists, PA grew and expanded, the name of the group was changed to Southwest Imaging and Interventional Specialists. In March of 2011, as a result of a merger, SIIS became part of Radiology Associates of North Texas.
Dr. Ellenbogen has participated in numerous medical organizations and is a past President of the Dallas -Fort Worth Radiological Society. He is also Past President of the Texas Radiological Society and he received the highest honor of the TRS - the Gold Medal in 2009. He is currently a member of their Board of Governors. Much of his time and energy since 1992 have been devoted to service in the American College of Radiology. He has been an Alternate Councilor, Councilor, Member of the Council Steering Committee, Vice Speaker and Speaker of the Council. Dr. Ellenbogen has also served on the Board of Chancellors for over ten years and has filled many positions in the ACR Leadership. He has been Secretary/Treasurer and Vice Chair of the Board. In April of 2012 he is expected to be elevated to the position of Chairman of the Board of Chancellors. He has chaired the Commission on Human Resources, the Budget and Finance Committee, the Governance Committee and the Scenario Planning Task force. Dr. Ellenbogen has also served on the Executive, Audit, Web Site, and Awards and Honors Committees of ACR. He is Chair of RADPAC, Co-Chair of the ACR Annual Forum and Chair of the Board of Image Metrix, an ACR Contract Research Organization. Dr. Ellenbogen was a charter member and Co-Chair of the ACR/RSNA Joint Committee on Public Information which founded the web site RadiologyInfo.org. He has also served on the Executive Council of the American Roentgen Ray Society.
Dr. Ellenbogen attended Medical School at The State University of New York-Downstate and completed his medical internship and his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California in San Diego. He also completed a fellowship in Ultrasound and Uroradiology at UCSD. Dr. Ellenbogen is certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology. He is also a fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and fellow of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (SRU). He has been named one of the “Best Doctors in Dallas” each year since publication of this list began. Dr. Ellenbogen serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR) and has been a manuscript reviewer for several other medical journals. He has published more than 15 peer reviewed articles and has delivered more than 40 invited lectures.
