Dr. Thomas J. Ruhnke, Jr. practices at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas and Southwest Diagnostic Imaging Center and has been a radiologist with Radiology Associates of North Texas, P.A., since 2011. Dr. Ruhnke joined our practice when Southwest Imaging and Interventional Specialists and Radiology Associates of Tarrant County merged to form Radiology Associates of North Texas, PA. Prior to the merger, he was in practice with SIIS since 2005. He is certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology and previously served as Medical Director of the Sue A. DeMille Breast Center at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano and the Women’s Diagnostic Center at the Medical Center of McKinney.
Dr. Ruhnke specializes in Breast Imaging and Intervention including mammography, sonography, breast MRI and breast tomosynthesis. Prior to returning to Texas, he resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma and served as President of Tulsa X-Ray Lab, Inc., Chairman of Radiology at Hillcrest Medical Center and Medical Director of the Leta Chapman Breast Center.
He attended the UT Health Science Center Medical School at San Antonio and completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the UT Medical Branch at Galveston where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Ruhnke then entered active duty in the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Major. He served as Chief of Thoracic Imaging at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and as Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Ruhnke participates in numerous professional societies including the American Medical Association, the Society of Breast Imaging, the Radiological Society of North America, the Texas Medical Association, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Texas Radiological Society and the American College of Radiology.
